 SUPERVISOR CANDIDATE    &    TEAM COMPARISON

POSSIBLE CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

Susan Cockburn & team

Their investment in their homes is their only self-interest.

NO other property or business interests which could be a conflict or of concern to taxpayers!

Mike Hayes & team

Mike Hayes has no personal stake in our Town, does not know the pain of paying taxes. His conflicts are as big as the MASSIVE amounts of money his campaign has received and spent on attack advertisement and mailers, Not a Word about what he's done in office.

Cindy Voss   Walden Savings Bank already has Jeff Crist, one of its Board Members installed as the Town Planning Board Chairman.  Now they have a long time employee running for 1 of 5 seats on our Town Council.  The bank recently exerted its influence on Hayes and his Board to make a spot zone change to some of its property.

Why is the President of Walden Savings Bank trying to take control of our Town Council and Town Planning Board? The two most powerful Boards in our Town Government.  The Banks arrogance in trying to put a long time employee who never attended meetings on the Board is worrisome if not dangerous to the average taxpayers interest.

How will Cindy Vote?   Will she vote for the average taxpayers interest?  Will she recuse herself from voting on matters affecting the banks interest?

How will we know where the Banks interest Begins or Ends?

Who knows?  Who will know?  Who will tell us?

Sheryl Melick Long time business owner of Mobil station on rt208, by Scotts Corners.  Cheryl recently allowed Mike Hayes to use her empty lot next door as an accommodation address.  Mike changed his business address from his childhood home, to Sheryl's empty lot on Rt. 208 (2229 Rt. 208) to buttress the image presented to the Voters as an accomplished successful businessman.
Sheryl has ties to the old habitants of Town Hall and controls two towing contracts with our town.

Mike Hayes plan to have us install water & sewer pipes from I84 up Rt208 benefits developers like Landmaster (of lawsuit fame and high density housing) & Roswin (planned development of 400 units on old golf course) by saving them millions in costs of drilling wells and building septic systems if they have to build it for themselves.

Sheryl is also a major landowner in Town, especially on Rt. 208.   Under Mikes Plan Sheryl's properties would also increase in value, along with her cost savings to develop them.

The following is the Lot / Block designations of her properties on Rt208.

22-2-4       2231 St Rt 208
22-25.1     2229 St Rt 208 (Mikes new business address)
22-2-6.2    2223 State Route 208
22-2-7       Address not available
23-129.2    Old Maybrook Rd

How will Sheryl vote?  Will she vote for the average taxpayers interest?  Will she recuse herself from voting on all matters impinging on her properties?  Will she give up her two tow contracts?  Who knows?  Who will know?  Who will tell us?

Notes on political affiliation:

A voice in our electoral system requires party affiliation; we have to put little tags on our chest.  Party affiliation impacts issues in State and National Governments.

In Local Government we don't make decisions on Moral or Military matters, the only power the State allows us to wield is over our Land & Water.

The Selection Process followed by our Town Parties:

Democratic Party This year an open call for interested citizens and an endorsement process conducted by the County Chair was instituted.  The result was the endorsement of two newcomers and the first primary in our town.  Democracy is a little messy, but worth it.

Republican Party Don't know how candidates are selected but there certainly must have been a more qualified Supervisor candidate to be found in the Republican ranks.

Conservative Party The Town Chair in consultation with members is supposed to make the selection.  This year several members have already switched to a different party due to the single-handed endorsement of Mike Hayes & team by the Chairman.

Independence Party Not sure, we applied to interview for this endorsement; we never heard back and belatedly were informed Mike Hayes & Team had it.  A little research disclosed the new Chairman of this party is a lawyer in State Senator Larkins law firm?
